9/1/2023 0 Comments Tesla pricing![]() With the Cybertruck and Roadster still not making an appearance in 2023, the only truly performance oriented Teslas are the Model S, in the dual-motor base model or tri-motor Plaid edition, and the Model X super-SUV, with a dual-motor base edition and tri-motor Plaid edition. The Model 3 Long Range has a stellar 505 mile estimated range. Ranges of over 300 miles are considered in the current EV market as very good, and even the Model Y base trim will just about hit, depending on how you drive the car. Both the Model 3 and Model Y have two optional upgrades, the aforementioned Performance version, and the Long Range. Let's not forget that Tesla also makes the immensely popular Model Y SUV, and had that competitively prices at around $47,500 for all of 2022 and continuing into 2023. Even better, for those that actually wanted to have some performance, the Model 3 Performance stabilized at $54,000, and has recently dropped its price by almost $800. That put it in the affordable range of the many young professionals that the cars were originally targeted to attract, after many years of the prices fluctuating up and down due to the semiconductor shortage packaged together with the global pandemic. ![]() The American carmaker did even better in 2022, with a total of 1,313,581 cars built and delivered, most of that thanks to the Model 3 stabilizing at just over $40,000 for a rear wheel drive base model throughout that year. In October, Tesla surpassed $1 trillion in market value, making it one of the most valuable companies globally and number one automobile company (in terms of market value) by some distance. Tesla delivered a record 936, 172 vehicles in 2021, despite the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and semi-conductor chip shortage. Since the company reportedly produced thousands of vehicles more than it handed over to customers, these price cuts were likely implemented to sell existing inventory and to drum up demand going forward.Contents: Model List & Pricing / Models In Depth / Best Models When Tesla reported its earnings for 2022 in January this year, Elon Musk said the company was seeing orders "almost twice the rate of production." According to Bloomberg, though, Tesla was unable to sustain that rate of demand and has made the lowest number of deliveries in the first quarter of this year since 2021. The base Model Y will now set buyers back $46,990, while the Long Range and Performance vehicles now cost $49,990 and $53,990, respectively. ![]() The base, the Long Range and the Performance Model Y vehicles now cost $3,000 less than before. To note, Tesla's other cars are still eligible for the full $7,500 tax credits, including the Model Y vehicles that also got a price cut. The new rules are related to the US cutting off China as an approved trading partner, which would lead to EVs using China-made batteries losing tax credits as a result. And earlier this year, Tesla cut its prices quite drastically across its lineup, with some models getting a price drop of as much as 20 percent.Īs Tesla notes on its website, though, the rear-wheel drive model now only qualifies for $3,750 in tax credits after the government's change in guidelines took effect on April 18th. If you'll recall, the automaker already cut $1,000 off its price and started selling it for $41,990 the last time it implemented price cuts just a couple of weeks ago. It has quietly lowered the price for the Model 3, so that the the rear-wheel drive variant now starts at $39,990 or $2,000 less than what buyers would pay for it as recently as earlier this month. Tesla has slashed its electric vehicles' prices for the sixth time this year, on the eve of its next earnings report. ![]()
