8/31/2023 0 Comments Launchbar auto start![]() ![]() Indeed, it will take an hour or two to build a compact and meaningful index, but LaunchBar will thank you by being very snappy and responsive and – above all – CPU usage (energy consumption) will be greatly reduced, which is essential when you are on a notebook. ![]() Also disable iTunes indexing if you don’t need it, and similar stuff. If not already done, thin out the index and try to reduce the amount of indexed files and folders to something less than 10000 items (currently I have about 5000, and this is still more than it could be if further optimized). Do not try to index everything with LaunchBar, you have Spotlight for that. The main thing that causes trouble for LaunchBar is an overcrowded index. In LaunchBar’s Preferences > Shortcuts you can set it to quit only on ⌥⌘Q (instead of ⌘Q). This is definitely not “normal” and I would rather investigate the problem than building a relaunch macro. Since you are considering a hefty check interval of 30 seconds, I assume that LaunchBar dies much more frequently on your machine. But on my machine this happens maybe once every couple of weeks. ![]() I’m using LaunchBar for many years and I know, sometimes it dies silently. It should automatically be configured to use Command + Space. You can simply drag your shortcuts onto the toolbar or menu. Open your Applications folder and double-click on the LaunchBar icon to launch the app. When auto-hiding is turned off, a lock icon is displayed at the right end of the bar.Sometimes (not often, but sometimes) it crashes True Launch Bar fully supports Windows Drag&Drop technology. To turn off LaunchBar’s auto-hiding behavior temporarily, select Turn Hiding Off from the LaunchBar menu or press Command-Shift-H. In some situations you may wish to prevent LaunchBar from hiding, for example, if you’ve selected a folder that’s going to be used as the destination for subsequent drag and drop operations. In addition to the Command-H menu shortcut you can hide LaunchBar by pressing either Escape, Command-Period or Command-W. Quick Launch Bar If you drop a file or folder on the Quick Launch bar area, a button for it will be automatically added for it. Pin your files and folders to Quick Access. When you turn off the Dock icon to make LaunchBar run as a background application (as described above), LaunchBar will also no longer appear in the Command-Tab application switcher of OS X. If you know them, you will better organize file and folder hierarchy. You will then have to reapply this change.Įxcluding LaunchBar from the Command-Tab app switcher
